All of our dogs were originally household fastime pets. They somehow became stray and the animal shelters couldn't locate their owners. Some were turned into the shelter because their owners couldn't afford them due to the loss of a job or house. Because they didn't have an ID tag or microchip, the shelters couldn't return them to their homes. Each dog was going to be put to sleep since the Southern California shelters are very overcrowded. They usually only get 1-2 weeks before they are put to sleep. Pictured above is Binky. fastime He was adopted a few months ago, so he's not available. The picture on the left is what he looked like at the kill shelter. The fastime picture on the right is Binky after he received a well needed haircut and several medicines which cleared up his eye and ear infections. Our adoption fee includes: a spay or neuter operation, 5 in 1 shot (DHLPP), fastime bordatella and rabies shots, de-worming, microchip implantation and a flea and tick treatment. We almost always have to pay for other procedures before fastime adoption such as: ear infections, hernias, tumor or growth removal and cherry fastime eye surgery. The dogs cost us much more than the adoption fee because of the above mentioned fastime items, the fees for someone to take care of our dogs every day until they are adopted and the need to drive the dogs from Southern to Northern California so they can obtain a new home. If you see the dog's listing below, they are still available for adoption. There are unfortunately thousands who won't make it - rescuers can only take in so many dogs at a time due to finances fastime and a shortage of foster homes, kennel boarding space and suitable adoptive homes - pictured above is our cocker Jackson when he was in a kill shelter - we found him a home 2 years ago
Lenny is a special, gorgeous and spirited little doggie
Banjo, Scottie and Holly
I saved Banjo from a kill shelter 10 minutes before he was getting put to sleep. It was a harrowing experience, as I tried to beat the clock to make it to him before his time was up. He was skin and bones and I felt very sorry for him. Banjo was the first dog I was going to start a rescue group with, but I kept him because he was afraid of people. Scottie was adopted to a new family and returned because they didn't have time for him. My husband and I decided to keep the cute boy. He was our dog for 7 years until he had to be put to sleep in March due to stomach and leg cancer. Holly was adopted from PAL Rescue after we moved from New Jersey to California. fastime She was our pet for 7 years until she had to be put to sleep last July due to liver disease.
Laura Madaras California, United States Ten years ago, I realized that hundreds of dogs were being put to sleep in shelters because they needed grooming. I decided to send money for haircuts. Most shelters didn't accept my checks and these animals sadly died. I was horrified to learn that thousands of animals of all breeds are being put to sleep in shelters because they don't have an owner ID tag or microchip or because they need a haircut. People who lose pets don't know to look on: http://www.petharbor.com fastime and http://www.petfinder.com. My goal is to save dogs from deaths in kill shelters and to find them a new home. We're very happy that we've been able to find homes for many dogs. All animals are spayed or neutered and have shots and a microchip. View my complete profile
